Jessica Cochran is an associate of the Leigh Law Group.  Prior to attending law school she worked in special education as both a behavioral specialist and as a teacher’s assistant serving children with emotional challenges and learning disabilities.Jessica comes to our firm with a strong dedication and passion for helping children with special needs. She attended Whittier Law School and was a fellow in the Center for Children’s Rights, Whittier’s child advocacy program.

During law school she worked at the Learning Rights Project, a non-profit organization representing the educational needs of children living in at-risk areas in and around Los Angeles and children involved in the juvenile justice system, the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, where she worked in the juvenile division, Protection and Advocacy, a nationwide legal agency dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities and Whittier’s Special Education Clinic. Following law school she worked for a private special education attorney in southern California, where she advocated for both educational and regional center services for children with special needs before deciding to move back to her home, the Bay Area.Of particular relevance is Jessica’s experience in advocating for children with disabilities at IEP meetings, mediations and due process proceedings.

Jessica pays particular attention to detail and is particularly knowledgeable about issue spotting based on client intake and educational records reviews. Her strong knowledge of special education law including the IDEIA and the Lanterman Act makes Jessica an excellent special education attorney advocate.
