Sarah J. Fairchild is an associate at Leigh Law Group. Sarah has nine years of
experience in disability rights advocacy; she began working in the field when
her second son was diagnosed with autism. Sarah is active in the disability rights
community and has served on a local autism task forces. Sarah has worked with
Protection and Advocacy, nationwide watchdog legal agency, in the area of special
education. At Protection and Advocacy she specialized in identifying violations
of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act. She also gained extensive
experience in mental health needs of children in special education. To be an effective
advocate in the area, Sarah has received basic ABA training through classes with
Mark Sundberg, Cathy Satopadre and other professionals in the field.
In addition to her work in the disability rights community, Sarah has criminal law
experience through work with the Alameda and San Francisco County Public
Defender’s offices. She has appellate experience through work on capital cases.
She has had a strong training in mitigation theory and practice.
